What’s New In Investments, Funds? – Quoniam Asset Management, Aberdeen Investments

The latest news in investment offerings, financial products and other services relevant to wealth advisors and their clients.

Quoniam Asset Management
Quoniam Asset Management has expanded its range of systematic equity strategies to include a Global Active Extension strategy. This new solution applies the proven concept of the European Active Extension strategy to a global equity universe.

With global markets being so concentrated, Quoniam's active extension approach enables the firm to build a diversified portfolio for clients that maintains exposure to larger names in the index, while diversifying with smaller positions across a portfolio of about 800 stocks. This provides exposure to a range of return drivers assessed by valuation, quality and market sentiment. The active extension incorporates both positive and negative equity forecasts into the portfolio, tapping into the return potential on either side of the market. As a result, the approach provides a higher outperformance target (targeted tracking error of 4 per cent) than a traditional long-only approach, while maintaining market-level risk.

The performance of the European Active Extension strategy provides a track record for the approach, having delivered an outperformance of its benchmark gross of fees by 6.2 per cent per annum over the last five years (as of July 2026), taking assets under management to almost €2 billion ($2.3 billion).

Aberdeen Investments
Aberdeen Investments has provided €80 million ($92 million), anchored by Standard Life, as part of an overall facility of up to €150 million in debt financing to EZO, a major privately owned electric vehicle (EV) charging operator in Ireland.

The transaction marks Aberdeen and Standard Life’s first infrastructure debt investment in the EV charging sector, expanding its investment activity across transport and energy transition infrastructure.

The financing will help EZO fund new concession opportunities and support the rollout of over 3,000 charging points, representing in excess of 100,000kW of charging capacity, over the next three years. The majority of the new infrastructure is expected to be installed across the UK, with additional deployment in Ireland.

“The electrification of transport is one of the most significant infrastructure investment themes of the coming decades, requiring substantial investment in the networks that will support growing EV adoption,” Matt Hamilton-Glover, investment director – Private Credit, at Aberdeen Investments said. “This transaction is particularly notable as it represents the first EV charging investment by our infrastructure debt team. It demonstrates how private capital can support essential infrastructure while helping accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon economy and improving access to charging infrastructure for both urban and rural communities.”

The investment will support the decarbonisation of road transport and advance the energy transition by expanding reliable, publicly accessible EV charging infrastructure at scale, the firm continued. As EV adoption continues to grow, the availability of convenient public charging remains a critical enabler of the transition, particularly for motorists without access to private charging facilities.

EZO's network destination charging, provides a fast-charging infrastructure typically ranging from 50kW to 300kW in locations where drivers naturally spend time, such as town centres, leisure destinations and retail locations. This complements the ultra-fast charging networks commonly found at motorway service stations and supports broader access to charging infrastructure in local communities.

Aberdeen Investments has a track record of investing in transport-related infrastructure through its private markets platform, with the new transaction broadening its exposure to infrastructure assets that support economic activity and the transition to a lower-carbon future.
